A very rare Modernist sideboard of exceptional quality and build. With nods to both Streamline Moderne (a minimalist later strain of Art Deco) and Mid Century Modern design, the sideboard boasts solid construction of thick Walnut veneers (check out that super smart grain!).
A compact Sideboard with deep storage, the piece features two large cabinets (one with shelf, the other with drinks shelf and glass shelf) and two discreet and angled drawers, all perched on four elegant curved legs.
This item was designed by the famous David Joel who, along with his wife Betty Joel ran a hugely influential furniture factory in Kingston, Greater London, where they produced high end designs for outlets such as Heals. This sleek and almost handle-free modernist sideboard was produced for the esteemed Gordon Russell company sometime between the 1930s and 1950s. A remarkable example of British design at its best.

Sideboard is in excellent vintage condition with minor age-related marks.
