ICONIC MODERNIST BUREAU DESIGNED BY DUNCAN GOMME FOR G-PLAN

A classic Mid Century Modern Writing Desk/Bureau designed by Duncan Gomme in the 1950s for his family's renowned furniture company, G-Plan. A lesser seen design from the 'Librenza' range (inspired by both Italian designs by the likes of Gio Ponti as well a Japanese lacquer techniques), this solidly built piece both iconic and practical - the front folds down to reveal a strong, leather-bound surface on which to write or use a laptop. There is plenty of storage too - with there being paper slots, a central drawer and two shelved compartments below. When folded up the piece is unobtrusive and slim and can easily slot into any recess - especially those tight spaces either side of chimney breasts. The Bureau boasts a strikingly angular modernist sillohette and is made from Tola wood with ebonised central drawers and legs.

There are the expected minor age-related marks but overall the item has been wire wooled & oiled and is in very good+ vintage condition.
